World Series at Ebbets Field, October 5, 1956
Though the Yankees went on to beat the Dodgers in the 1956 Subway Series (4 – 3), on October 5, 1956 the Dodgers had their day. The second game of the 1956 World Series was supposed to have been played on October 4, but was postponed due to rain. This World Series was a rematch of the 1955 World Series and was the last all-New York City Series until 2000. Game 5 of this World Series (also in our collection) is one of the most notable games in baseball history, with Don Larsen pitching the only postseason perfect game and the only postseason no-hitter setting records that stood until 2010.
